My Photographs
Pictures and writing by: Cassandra Pham
Photography is something I’ve grown to really enjoy over the years. When I was little, there were always pictures and photo albums around my house of my family and our life back home. I would spend time looking through those albums and seeing all of the memories that had been captured. Growing up with those photos made me really grateful that my family took so many pictures because whenever I wanted to remember a certain moment, I could simply look back at a photo and feel like I was experiencing that memory again.
As I got older, I started developing my own interest in photography. What I enjoy most is being able to capture moments that people might otherwise forget. I especially love seeing people light up when they see the pictures I’ve taken of them. It makes taking the time to capture those moments feel even more meaningful. “It’s a really fun experience, not only taking pictures but seeing the value of later on looking back on things we did.”
I enjoy taking pictures of my friends and other people, animals, scenery, bodies of water, and even random things I notice throughout my day. Sometimes the smallest or most ordinary moments can become some of my favorite pictures because they remind me of where I was and what I was doing at that time. Photography has become a way for me to appreciate the moments around me and make sure they can be remembered long after they happen.
For me, photography isn’t just about taking a good picture. It’s about preserving a moment and giving someone something they can look back on later.
