Senior Letters

“ If you were able to write a letter to your younger self, what would you include?”

Dear Karely,

I know you have goals for college and that you have to be ready to study for your career. Just remember to enjoy being young. Don’t put so much stress on little things, have time for yourself and be free. What you aren’t always going to remember will be the academic part of your life, it may be an amazing aspect that helps you grow as a person, yet the memories and friendships you make will always be there. It’s important to still make time for yourself because as serious as your goals are, you still need to take care of yourself and live your life. Remember that It’s okay, you can calm down. There's time for you to accomplish everything and still have some down time. I know that you have a lot of goals, but it's also important to take time for yourself. I know you struggled to get where you are, you have accomplished a lot but at the same time, you need to remember to take care of yourself. Having fun and enjoying your life as much as you can will give you the strength to carry on.

At the end of the day, overworking yourself will end up straining you whether you think It’s beneficial or not. Make sure to take time for yourself, you got this and just be confident in who you are and in what you have done.

We may be a senior now, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t take a breather and have fun. Being the ASB president isn’t easy, there's a lot of planning involved. So if you keep going without any joy, it’s just going to end up stressing you out.

‍ ‍To my younger self,

Everything will turn out alright, we will be satisfied with our future, it’s not as terrifying as we once thought it was. As long as you stay by your friends and those who care for you. Focus on your studies, don’t walk down the wrong path. Just stay focused on your studies, stay by your friends, and try to make new friends. Don’t end up procrastinating the whole time. Even now as a Senior it’s the main struggle against my goals. You may think that procrastination is a small thing, but it eventually catches up to you. Once it does, you will be bombarded with loads of homework, assignments, and such. And before you know it, your grades will end up slipping.

Stay true to yourself, don’t change based on what others expect of you. Don’t allow yourself to succumb to the words of others, be yourself and stay true to what you believe is right. That was one of my biggest regrets, trying to change for people caused me to lose myself in the process.

I’ve been able to take AP classes, improved myself overall as a person, and been a better friend. As a freshman I wasn’t the best person, nor the best role model for myself. So now as a Senior I would like to say, to just be yourself. Don’t try to change for others, you know what goals you wish to accomplish, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Eventually you will get over challenges, not having to compare yourself to anyone else. You have to focus on yourself, rather than paying attention to your other friends, and essentially trying to be better than them. Focus on yourself instead.

‍ ‍ Dear younger self,

I just want to say to keep going and keep grinding for your dreams. We have big dreams, so keep working hard to achieve your dreams. Eventually all the hard work and dedication will pay off.  We made many new and caring friends, they have helped us pull through some of our toughest times.

Continue thinking about our goals and push through no matter our mental struggles. We managed to overcome our mental struggles with the help of our friends.  Always try to be the best you can be, even if we still struggle with overthinking, we have more people to help us overcome that. Times may be tough for you now, just remember to keep going and it will all be better soon. We managed to achieve getting better at our instrument. As you always wanted to be, we became a drama major. Things are looking brighter than how it was before, but continue pushing through towards your dreams.
