Freshman Letters
Written by Vi Solorio Hernandez
Dear future Karla,
I hope that we have accomplished having a 4.0 GPA, and I hope that we have had time to help others too. Stay on track, stay focused on your grades. Don’t forget to also enjoy high school, new school means new opportunities. I have hope that our grades haven’t slipped and that we’re still on the path to success. I hope that we have our future plans figured out. Even if I currently don’t know what I want to major in, as long as we have it figured out by the end of senior year. If we don’t, then we can figure it out as time goes on. Just remember not to pressure yourself too hard.
I would like to be better at acting and hopefully learn a new language, accomplishing that would be fulfilling. I know that right now as a Freshman it’s a little scary going into a new school, but hopefully as a Senior, we have learned to grow and expand on our fears and knowledge. Using our fears and knowledge as power for the future, I hope we achieve great things. Allowing our mistakes and accomplishments help us grow.

The fear of overthinking is what I wish to overcome. To stop over complicating simple things. If we haven’t managed to overcome that, then I believe we will be able to overcome it with time. I expect us to stop fearing being alone, and learn to be independent. Being able to be in charge of myself when working with others and not expect someone else to lead. I know that we will have struggles in the future, but I trust we get past whatever those troubles are, whether that's with friends or family. I hope we get past our struggles and not dwell and feel sorry for ourselves.
Dear Isabella,
I hope you know that you are a really strong person that can overcome any challenges that come our way. Don’t lose that fact about yourself. I’m looking forward to seeing what we have accomplished, could be a new goal or an ongoing goal. My current goal is to work hard to become a lawyer, hoping to find a school suited for my goal. I’ve always had an interest in debating with others. If I’m not able to get into law school, then I wish to do other things I enjoy. Such as painting, drawing, and sketching. As long as I’m able to do what I enjoy, not what I am expecting to accomplish.
We have always given our best efforts on doing different things because I know that we enjoy proving ourselves capable. I wish to show others that I am capable of achieving what I have always dreamt of accomplishing.

I hope that we have stopped caring about what others think of us. I allow people's words to affect me. Letting their personal opinions of me bring me down. And allowing that to ruin my motivation. By overcoming this, I feel like we would be able to grow more as a person. Don’t let anyone stop you from being a sociable, energetic person. Talking to new people allowed me to make new friends and connections. Stay sociable and meet new people, continue working hard on your studies, and don’t forget to work on being better at soccer. Hopefully I continue being seen as a sweet, supportive and energetic person to others. Remember to stay confident.
