Freshman Letters
Written by: Vi Solorio Hernandez
Dear future self,
Let’s start off with questions I have. Have we gotten over our fear of public speaking? AP math is challenging but I hope that we are able to stay in it throughout the year. Have we been able to build back up to where we were in water polo last year or are we still trying to reconnect with the sport? Did our dad’s slip disk get fixed? Has Stevie gotten a better diagnosis yet? Were we able to join AVID once again or did we finally choose to go into orchestra? Are we still with our current boyfriend or did something happen along the way? Did nature finally find an apartment?
Being on camera is a fear that I wish we overcame in the future. Are we still being overly nervous and fidgeting in public while public speaking? Hopefully we stopped stuttering when speaking of things that we love. I wonder if we have gotten better at advocating for ourselves and talking about things that we need even when it may put others below us. Can we prioritize ourselves rather than worrying about others too much? Are we finally able to acknowledge our problems?

To my future self,
Have we gotten over our struggles in life and everything that has been going on including our trauma that happened in the past and have we healed? Is he treating you right, is he still kind hearted and sweet? I hope that we have gotten better at speaking in public. Along with having positive thoughts about ourselves. In the past we’ve struggled a lot with that and hopefully we slowly get better. Stay positive, don’t think badly of yourself, that won’t help you at all. Instead think of the brighter things ahead. Hopefully we’re paying more attention in class since I've noticed that we have been struggling a lot with that recently.
Are we still thinking about joining basketball, during summer we wanted to join basketball for high school but we never got to it. Have we decided not to join basketball at all or are we a part of the team? I enjoy acting, hopefully we made it into production drama and be a part of the plays. I’m looking forward to seeing if we end up getting a main role. If we did get a main role, what role did we get? Are our friends still in production drama, and hopefully we enjoy, have fun, and like the drama class.
